Fernando Gago retires from football. The Argentine footballer announced his retirement from professional sports to 34 years after the last few years of ups and downs due to continuous injuries. “It's hard and hard to accept. We know the level of demand and what Gago means. Your withdrawal is a very great loss. He made a great effort to recover and showed his dedication”, assured Pablo Cavallero, manager of Vélez.

“We lost a very important player. It's a decision made, but it would be nice if you accompany us on a daily basis without competing. Fernando Gago, a career full of ups and downs

Fernando Gago, took the first steps of his career in Boca Juniors where he debuted in 2004. His projection made Real Madrid invest in 2006 nothing more and nothing less than 27 million euros, becoming at that time the most expensive sale made by the Argentine club.

He was at Real Madrid until 2012 although in season 2011-12 was assigned to the Roma where it did not finish curdling. He later signed 4 seasons for him Valencia, but it did not come to fruition and ended up on loan 2013 to Velez. Later he signed for Boca Juniors, the club where he took his first steps in which he was among 2013 Y 2018.

In the Argentina Selection, Fernando Gago debuted as an absolute international in 2007 in a friendly against France. I participate in Brazil World Cup 2014 and was close to going to Russia 2018, but an injury prevented him from participating. He played the Copa América 2007, 2011 Y 2015 and won the World Sub 20 from 2005 and the gold medal in the Beijing Olympics 2008.
